ABOUT JONATHAN FAWCETT
Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgeon. Graduated in medicine with 1st class honours, awarded the Hallett prize in the primary FRCS exam and the ASGBI Prize for in the final Intercollegiate exam. Between 1990 and 1993, I worked in the Institute of Molecular Medicine in the University of Oxford as a PhD scholar (Balliol College) before completing higher surgical training, all while appointed as a Lecturer in Surgery in the Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of Oxford at the John Radcliffe Hospital. I moved to Australia as a Consultant Surgeon in Liver Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery, later being promoted to Professor of Surgery at the University of Queensland (2001) and also Director of the Queensland Liver Transplant Service (2008). Since 2012, I have also been the Director of Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. I have a strong research interest in basic and clinical research across transplantation and hepatobiliary cancer.
