ABOUT JONATHAN BROWN

As Estimating and Commercial Director for Mace Dragados on the iconic HS2 Birmingham Curzon Street, I am ultimately charged with the delivery of a commercially successful project for all the parties involved, through openness, Trust and mutual collaboration. However, I firmly believe that our greatest asset in the delivery of successful projects are all the people involved and integration of successful project teams throughout. All successful teams are those that are empowered through personal responsibility and drive to exceed the expectations of all parties involved. I am responsible for the financial, contractual and administrative management of the project. This includes, developing an understanding of the key client drivers and work with the project team to establish and define ‘Best Value’. My philosophy through 25 years as a commercial leader is to ‘plan the price NOT price the plan’ through early cost planning and budget management, management of supply chain integration with initial scope and cost management, and ultimately create a culture of openness and flexibility from the outset.Post award I lead the procurement management, project cost control, change and design development management and ensuring that commercial best practice and governance is maintained throughout. Beyond this I lead ‘principles groups’ which meet at defined times throughout to discuss all aspects of the scheme, ranging from project team development and integration, cost and GMP management and the development of best practice.Core values and vision:Team leader – develop a strong effective and motivated team through people skills management.Relationships – Develop excellent integrated teams so as to ensure that common goals are being realised.Commercial control – provide strong and accurate commercial records for all parties.Pursuit of a better way - the Mace Tech Vision is to transform Construction for tomorrow’s communities today
