ABOUT JONATHAN BLEASE

With 15 years of experience in technology architecture and strategy, I am the Head of Technology Strategy and Insights at Lloyds Banking Group, sitting within the CTO function and reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. I play a central strategy role that underpins the group’s ambition to become the UK’s biggest fintech.I lead a team of architects, strategists, and technology service managers responsible for shaping and delivering our technology strategy – defining our vision, transition states, and key measures across people, process, and technology. My team also serves as the central point for all technology data and insights across the organisation, covering currency, modernisation, resilience, risk, and simplification. We define strategic mandates through the strategy function and measure progress through insights. As an example, with this model, we’ve decommissioned over 800 applications, achieving a 20% reduction and delivering against a board and externally reported KPI.Beyond the core remit, I get involved in anything technology strategy related – whether that’s resolving complex design challenges, addressing architectural gaps, or evaluating emerging trends and their application to the group.As a senior enterprise architect, I bring deep expertise in technology strategy, enterprise and solution architecture, and large-scale technology transformation. I hold a first-class BSc (Hons) in IT and Communications and an MSc in IT Management and Organisational Change from Lancaster University.I’m passionate about continued learning and regularly experiment with emerging technologies to stay at the forefront of the industry.
