About Jonathan Allen

Came to SLO in 2009 and stayed after graduating Cal Poly in Architecture. I feel privileged to be here and now I find ways to serve the SLO community both socially and in business:1) For about 12 years (missed a few years living during the garage startup life), every Monday night, I cook and serve ~30 friends. On Sundays I do all the shopping, food prep, and setup for a fine dining(ish) experience. Then, on Monday nights, they show up at 6:30pm. They grab their house slippers from the home-made cubby, grab a snack and drink, and invest in their friendships. Sometimes I bring in a sommelier, host a trivia night with questions about each other, themed nights, assortments of games, etc. Then, at ~7:45pm I grab a couple helpers, we plate every spot and have them take their seats at one (very long) table. It\'s the best night of the week for me. Yes, it\'s a lot of work. And yes, I don\'t let people pay or help cook. The idea is to serve my friends and community. I want people to show up without a barrier, invest in friendships, feel loved, and then extend that feeling by serving their friends and community in their own unique way.2) I launched SLOeats–the first restaurant membership app. It helps customers save money dining out and it helps restaurants increase their customer frequency, get new customers, and keep 100% of the profit. It\'s a win-win! The one losing out in this business model are food delivery services since it\'s dine-in or takeout only. The app is live and growing even faster than expected! The SLOeats team and I are thrilled to be building something for the SLO community and finding so much success in it!
