ABOUT JONAS FISCHER

Currently, I am working as a Senior Application Specialist for spine and trauma applications at Brainlab covering surgical navigation, robotics and intraoperative imaging. I’m a fast learner with strong analytical and critical thinking skills, driven by curiosity and a structured, detail-oriented approach. I communicate clearly and effectively, and I’m equally comfortable working independently or as part of a collaborative team. I take pride in delivering high-quality results and continuously expanding my knowledge.I am passionate about medical devices and clinical applications to help clinicians and to ultimately improve the outcome of patients. By training I am an engineering physicist specialized in photonics. The first contact to medical devices and clinical applications I got during my Master\'s Thesis at Carl Zeiss Meditec. After, I got the opportunity to move to Barcelona, Spain, to pursue a PhD at ICFO in the Medical Optics group jointly with HemoPhotonics. My PhD studies were focused on neuromonitoring applications in the neurotrauma intensive care unit (ICU) on traumatic brain injury patients and in the stroke unit on stroke patients. Particularly, I developed hardware, algorithms and new tools related to fast, non-invasive measurements (using near-infrared light) of pulsatile cerebral blood flow due to the cardiac cycle. The work was truly multidisciplinary ranging from physics and engineering over data analysis and biostatistics to physiology and medicine.
