About Jonah Venegas

I am a queer, non-binary, Asian-American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and group fitness instructor with nearly 10 years of experience with individuals, adults, children, parents, and relational systems in the fields of mental health, social services, and intersectional advocacy. I practice and work from trauma-informed, justice-oriented, and anti-oppressive lenses with the goal of uplifting and strengthening historically marginalized communities. I both currently and historically specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ populations, as well as intersectional work with Asian immigrant, Asian-American, and Latinx communities.My passions in work are coming alongside people, families, and communities exactly where they are in their own particular journeys to accompany them towards a greater sense of wholeness while leaving them feeling empowered, with a profound sense of agency, and a greater ability to be able to advocate for themselves, set healthy boundaries, and speak kindly to themselves and others. I also believe deeply in the wisdom that our own bodies and lived experiences have to offer both ourselves and others.With a wide breadth of experience in a variety of different settings (nonprofit community health organizations, larger mental health clinics, private practice, county child welfare, etc.), I strive to empower the next generation of helpers, healers, and advocates from LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.
