About Jonah Huskey-Wright
I’m a dual-degree student in Political Science and Philosophy at Eastern Michigan University, graduating with highest honors. As a first-generation, low-income college student, my academic and professional path has been shaped by persistence, civic purpose, and a deep commitment to equity and justice.Through legal internships, student leadership, and academic research, I’ve developed a foundation in public service and critical inquiry. My experiences span from supporting a second-degree murder defense in rural Tennessee to shaping equity initiatives in Washtenaw County’s Racial Equity Office. In Fall 2025, I was selected to study political philosophy at the University of Oxford, where I became a member of the Oxford Union, the world’s most prestigious debating society. There, I engaged with global leaders and participated in high-level discussions on law, politics, and philosophy. What I’ve Done- Drafted legal documents and supported trial prep at a Public Defender’s Office, helping secure a reduced sentence in a major felony case- Presented original political theory research analyzing Plato’s oligarchy and modern U.S. political dynamics- Assisted in passing over 15 resolutions as Director of Internal Relations in EMU’s Student Government- Advocated for ethical policing and student safety as a board member on EMU’s Public Safety Oversight Committee- Completed 100+ hours of community service while working in multiple student-facing campus roles. What Drives Me:My passion lies at the intersection of law, public ethics, and institutional reform. I plan to attend law school with the goal of pursuing a career in public service or government, where I can contribute to systems that are more just, inclusive, and accountable.🤝 Let’s Connect:I welcome opportunities to collaborate, share ideas, or connect with professionals in law, public policy, or civic leadership.
