Design and assembled testing rigs to be machined for fatigue, tension, and compression tests •Managed all parts of the testing process, from rig design, quoting of project, design review, procurement, material selection, rig assembly, testing, report and close-out •Conducted metallurgical analysis on titanium specimens; from exposure, preparation, mounting, to analysis •Completed testing in airflow lab on anti-ice valves, in multiple configurations, at different pressures •Tested composite panels to determine fire-worthiness according to FAA regulations, with airflow, pressure, vibration and fire being applied • Operate, maintain, and ensure calibration of hydraulic and electro-mechanical test frames, furnaces, ovens, control units, lab computers and lab equipment • Use Instron Bluehill, WaveMatrix, and MTS AeroPro software to control tests and collect data • Perform mechanical testing of metals and composites to ASTM standards • Tension/Compression, Flatwise tension/compression, Fatigue, Fastener pull-through/pull off, Shear, High-temp, corrosion, low-temp • Prepare microscope specimen mounts with hand and automatic grinding • Utilize optical, digital-optical, and scanning-electron microscopes for fractography and failure analysis • Support airflow, vibration, and fire survivability testing on components and systems • Design fixturing, methods, processes for non-standard tests • Analyze failure modes and determine root cause of failures • Perform calculations as requested by customer or as required by ASTM specifications • Generate test reports and review test results with customers to ensure quality & satisfaction • Coordinate machining of test specimens and fixtures with machinists • Collaborate with customers through post-test reviews to ensure quality of test methods/results • Supply customers with estimates of test cost and schedule, and perform to estimate • Continuously improve processes to improve efficiency and flexibility of test methods (ACE Methods)
