ABOUT JON MONSERUD

Two-years stay at home dad before wife fired me. She cited literature that children fall behind socially if not in an environment with other children. Trying not to take it too hard I pivoted back to science and engineering. I am now scientist/engineer managing a SomaExplore team. I lead a skilled and disparate group of minds to bend and break the rules of proteomics. My team successfully keeps SomaLogic on the leading edge of proteomics. I’m an engineering mind with a dash of chemistry. Capable to tackle construct design and fabrication but can wield a pipette. I’m a devoted father who works so that my children can play! I have earned two magna cum laude bachelor’s degrees at Colorado School of Mines simultaneously. Yes, I crossed the stage twice the same graduation. These were followed by my PhD at CU-boulder. Then after serious thought my wife and I decided I should move to being a stay at home for our first born. Two years later I was forced to retire from being a stay-at-home dad (not really, we talked it through like all things). From there I was hired on at SomaLogic in the fledgling SomaExplore group. Within SomaExplore I have grown greatly and tackled IP generation, performance improvements, environmental impacts, cost reduction, etc. The list goes on and on. This past year my myriad of projects grew bigger than myself. So, it was time to grow a team to become more effective in the projects I’ve generated. I’ve spent significant time selecting and growing my team. Once established we have greatly accelerated advancements in SomaLogic’s assay and the greater field of proteomics.
