I am an experienced Operational Manager, Firefighter and Vehicle & Military Vehicle Rescue Consultant with over 30 years of frontline experience, serving at a multi-pump technical rescue station for many years in Dorset, UK. Alongside my operational role as both Crew Member and Officer in Charge, I am deeply committed to advancing the field of vehicle crash rescue and heavy vehicle extrication.As the founder of rtc-rescue.com, I have created a global platform for sharing and discussing rescue techniques, emerging technologies, and the real-world challenges faced during complex extrications.Over the past three decades, I have worked closely with leading international experts - most notably under the mentorship of the master Len Watson - and contributed to the evolution of modern rescue methodologies. My involvement includes serving as a past member of the Car User Entrapment Extrication Society (C.U.E.E.S) and acting as an advisor for the RAC’s “Essential Drivers Handbook.”My written work has been featured in respected publications including Fire Times, Technical Rescue, and the Fire Product Search e-zine, helping to share operational insights and best practices across the global rescue community.As a certified instructor with Heavy Rescue Sweden, I have delivered and developed training internationally in heavy rescue and lifting techniques. Currently, I serve as a trainer at the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre, specialising in Heavy Rescue, Road Traffic Collision (RTC) delivery, Fire Behaviour Training (FBT), Breathing Apparatus (BA), and both commercial and military firefighting disciplines.Additionally, I am a National Assessor for the NBAC (National Breathing Apparatus Challenge), evaluating all competition elements annually at the Fire Service College.My ongoing mission is to promote collaboration, innovation, and excellence in technical rescue - ensuring safer, more efficient outcomes for rescuers and casualties alike.
