About Jon Berg
I started my career my Junior year in high school. In 2007 I was hired as a camera operator at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, SD. After a year I advanced in the production side of television; doing everything from running studio camera, to audio, to working in the master control room. In the summer of 2009 I moved to the newsroom at KELO-TV and worked as a Production Assistant. I edited video (on beta tape) and ran teleprompter during newscasts. After high school I attended South Dakota State University where I majored in Broadcast Journalism. I was fortunate enough to do my internship at KELO-TV, and reported on dozens of stories throughout the summer of 2011, during the Missouri River flooding. I met so many people who shared their stories with me, and I was privileged to put their story together and share it with tens of thousands of viewers. After my internship I was given the opportunity to be a weekend reporter at KELO-TV, while I finished up the rest of my senior year at SDSU. I continued to gain knowledge in the field of journalism throughout my senior year. Upon graduation I was offered a job at KXMB-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota; as the 10pm anchor. I immediately knew this was a great opportunity for me. After I graduated from SDSU in May of 2012 I started my first full time job, as a reporter and the 10pm anchor for KX News in Bismarck. In September of 2014 I started working for Sanford Health in Bismarck. As a Media and Internal Communications Strategist, I work very closely with the local media. I use my experiences I gained from being a news reporter in my work at Sanford Health. I write press releases, pitch story ideas and help align interviews when the media inquire about a story. I also write content and help produce a weekly newsletter for Sanford employees.
