ABOUT JOSE MARTINEZ

As an Associate Physical Scientist at RAND Corporation, I apply my extensive research background and interdisciplinary skills to address complex and critical challenges in policy, emerging technology, and security. I have a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I developed a novel stem cell model of neurodegeneration in Down syndrome and Alzheimer\'s disease, and published my findings in peer-reviewed journals. I also have a Master\'s of Public Affairs from the same institution, where I gained valuable experience in policy analysis, memo writing, and science communication.I have over five years of combined research experience in various fields, such as inorganic chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, neuroscience, and molecular biology, at prestigious research institutions, such as the University of California Santa Cruz, the University of Washington, and the University of Michigan. I have also worked as a Graduate Student Summer Associate at RAND, where I led a small group of analysts to assess the state of the science in traumatic brain injury and contributed to projects on human modeling and military healthcare. I am passionate about using my scientific expertise and analytical skills to inform and influence evidence-based decision making and policy making that can improve the lives of millions of people.
