iCodePal~ Co-led the design and development of iCodePal, an AI-powered Chrome extension and teacher dashboard supporting coding education through Scratch for the Karnataka government’s i-Code program, in partnership with the Agastya International Foundation.~ Led the redesign of the interface and interaction model to fit the realities of under-resourced classrooms: where devices are shared, internet access is limited, and teacher oversight is essential.~ Developed a role-based dialogue system that ensures responsible AI use: students receive guided prompts that encourage reasoning rather than direct answers, while teachers can view class data and manage student codes.~ Built Firebase-based authentication flows, data structures, and dashboards that enable classroom-level monitoring and ethical data collection.~ Conducted fieldwork in Kuppam, India (May–June 2025), collaborating with teachers to refine the interface and tailor AI prompts to local pedagogical practices.~ Designed and launched the iCodePal informational website to support program scale-up and teacher training.MathPal~ Co-led the development and evaluation of MathPal, an AI-powered Chrome extension that provides guided math tutoring for middle school students in Bethlehem, PA.~ Conducted in-person classroom observations and student interviews at Broughal Middle School to understand how learners interacted with the AI tutor and where it succeeded or failed in supporting problem-solving.~ Analyzed student–AI conversation logs to identify recurring question types, engagement patterns, and misconceptions, informing design changes that made AI feedback more equitable and learning-focused.~ Led iterations of the front-end interface and prompt structure to make explanations more transparent and encourage reasoning rather than solution-giving.~ The design insights and interaction data from MathPal directly informed the contextual redesign of iCodePal for use in Indian classrooms.
