About John Honeycutt
I advise global sports organizations, media companies, and technology partners on the future of sports production, distribution, and media technology. Over the course of my career I have served as Chief Technology Officer at both Discovery Communications and FOX Cable Networks, helping build and scale some of the world’s largest media platforms across sports, entertainment, and international television. Today I lead Sandy Valley Media, advising leagues, major international events, media companies, and technology partners on next-generation production infrastructure, large-scale event technology, and the evolving economics of global sports media. Previously I served as Vice President at Google Cloud, where I helped establish the company’s global strategy for Media, Entertainment, Telecommunications and Gaming. Earlier, during more than 15 years at Discovery Communications, I served as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Discovery Networks International, helping drive the company’s global expansion and modernization across technology, operations, and business strategy. In 2019 I received a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for pioneering work advancing the use of cloud technologies in the global media industry.
