ABOUT JOHN WELLE
I am a medical student at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo. My interests are in clinical and translational research, particularly at the intersection of physiology, neuroscience, and human performance under stress.I am currently involved in research with the Child and Family Asthma Studies Center, and the Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center (BNAC), contributing to projects related to respiratory physiology and neuroimaging under faculty mentorship.Prior to medical school, I worked in clinical settings as a medical assistant and scribe in high-volume practices, gaining experience in patient care workflows and healthcare operations. I also have a background in psychology and clinical research, including exposure to Good Clinical Practice and IRB-guided research environments.Earlier in my career, I served in the United States Marine Corps in operational and instructional roles. Those experiences continue to inform my approach to structured problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making in demanding environments.I am interested in work that bridges clinical medicine, research, and applied human performance, particularly in contexts involving illness, stress, or complex systems.
