I run the newsdesk as an assignment editor, managing the development of editorial content for an award-winning news station in the 22nd largest market in the U.S- I produce stories and content for local, regional and national audiences that appears on KGW-TV, KGW.com, the TEGNA network and NBC- I direct crews and and other producers in the development of stories for on-air and online audiences- I fact-check and vet content, gathering data and information to substantiate stories- I interview sources and sets up interviews for other reporters- I cultivate long-term relationships with key sources in the public and private sector to ensure we get accurate information quickly- I manage the editorial calendar, contact database and story archive, taking charge of all archived station information for ongoing news coverage- I use social media to develop contacts and bring in user-generated content- I monitor emergency scanners, feeds, databases and other informational sources for stories and data- I master traditional and emerging technologies to discover, filter, and share content.
