Bamberg, DE

Antolin is a leading multinational company in the development, design and manufacture of interior components for the automobile industry (Overhead, Doors, Lighting and Cockpits & Consoles). The company has more than people across 26 countries.I discovered an opportunity that had a great fit with my solid experience in Automotive Plastics. After two short interviews I was selected to join the Human Machine Interface team. Although I expected to be responsible for technical project management, a month later the requirements changed. I was asked to be the product engineer for 2 information communication lights, which were a new product line for Antolin. During this period, I was particularly proud of the following successes: Spearheading the improvement of the design. Initiating design changes, managing new part numbers, and drawing revisions. Working with a Customer, European Supply base and Manufacturing site stretched over 3 time zones.

ABOUT JOHN S.

At the age of 17, I wanted my future career to be in Architecture, until my uncle steered me towards engineering. A few years later I took his advice and entered the Mechanical Engineering college at Virginia Tech. But it was my senior year when things really got interesting. I volunteered on the University BAJA SAE team which is a competition similar to Formula SAE, but with an off-road focus. The goal is to design, build, and race a vehicle that can survive rough terrain. Once I was drenched in mud and breathed in the heady exhaust fumes the Automotive bug bit! Thus was the beginning of my love affair with the Automotive industry. To this young professional starting at Rehau everything was exotic! Meeting and collaborating with international teams, visiting the sales office in Detroit, traveling to Alabama to see both the Rehau plant and its Mercedes customer, I also realized how much I enjoyed interacting with different cultures. I liked it so much that I spent the last 16 years overseas, working with Germans, Italians, Spanish, Mexicans, Romanians, Czechs, Slovakians, French, Chinese, Portuguese…even people in India & Morocco. Today I shine in 3 areas, which ultimately is all about knowing how to work with people: Managing projects with teams of suppliers and subject matter experts Solving seemingly insurmountable problems & achieving consensus Developing innovative plastic products for the Automotive industryLast but not least I firmly believe that we’ll get more done when we leave our egos at the door!SPECIALTIES:Project Management Expert, Extensive Plastic Design, Injection Molding, Automotive Painted Plastics, Advanced Manufacturing, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Human Machine Interface & Interior Lighting, Mechatronics, Global High-Performance Teams, International Collaborative Problem Solver, Change Management, Strategy & Innovation, Continuous Improvement, AI Champion, Pro-active & Results Driven, Diplomatic Consensus Building¸ Reliable in Stressful Situations, Mentoring
