ABOUT JOHN REEL

I took a new Computer Science degree to the NSA where I traveled all over the world designing, building and troubleshooting technologies to help our international partners more effectively support our national objectives. Mostly, I solved problems spanning cultures, technologies, oceans, languages, and vastly different perceptions of trust.I left NSA eight years later with confidence, accomplishments, and an emerging career identity. I continued the career adventure as a contractor to the DoD and Intelligence Community. My responsibilities grew as did the variety of challenges. I ran a business operation, a research lab, served as the company’s technical expert in cyber warfare/security, and won new business while leading work to manage change through at least five ownership changes. I left contracting to work in private sector IT services to learn about cloud and networking technologies from a different perspective.My contributions were key to many wins/successes, and I came to appreciate my own unique value proposition. I can work effectively at the executive level to define high level, long term strategies for technology and businesses, I can then effectively work down in the organization to define the critical actions or projects needed to enact the strategy, and finally I can manage those projects through the inevitable crises and changes that alter the recipes for delivering on the strategies.Some of my wins / successes include- A key contributor to over half a billion dollars in real government contract wins (and additional IDIQ vehicle wins)- Led the turnaround of a $23 million business unit reducing turnover by 50% and increasing revenue by 8%- A patent for a telecommunication security technology- Successfully executing two litigation cases- Winning our first contract with a foreign Government and our first DARPA research project- Deploying the company’s first Enterprise PKI and Software Defined Perimeter (SDP)
