Completed over two dozen aquifer studies in New York, Florida, Connecticut, North Dakota, Saudi Arabia, and throughout the Midwest United States including Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. For each study researched the geo/hydeogeological conditions, existing water well records, review of published state and federal (USGS) geologic mapping and reports, anticipated drilling conditions, applicable permits and filings, and consulted with local drilling contractors. Contributed to feasibility studies and developed specifications for test well installations for multiple types of ground heat exchangers, including vertical closed loops, Aquifer Thermal Energy Transfer systems (“ATET,” aka open loop wells), DCL Geo-EnergyTM (“Dynamic Closed Loop”) submerged closed loop heat exchangers, standing column wells, and Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage wells (“ATES”).Contributed to Scoping Studies for vertical closed loop community heat pump systems in New York City under NYSERDA’s PON 4614 program, including evaluating subsurface conditions, borefield sizing and layout, use of precedent-setting angled borehole drilling, and potential regulatory and environmental obstacles.
