An election commissioner is responsible for overseeing the administration of elections. This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures for voter registration, polling places, and vote counting. Prior to elections we are also responsible for recruiting and training poll workers, and for communicating with the public about the voting process. Overall, the main responsibility of an election commissioner is to ensure that all citizens have an equal opportunity to participate in the democratic process and that every vote is counted accurately.
