ABOUT JOHN P.

I have a passion for building people-focused software that solves real problems. My background in Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto gave me a strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns, and introduced me to systems programming with C, C++, and Python.Professionally, I’ve developed as a full-stack software engineer. On the backend, I’ve built scalable services using Java, Python, Golang, C++, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and SQL. On the frontend, I’ve designed responsive interfaces with React and Angular. I’m experienced with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, ACCP, Bamboo, GitHub Actions), Kafka, Elasticsearch, and I regularly work in Linux terminal environments.I’ve had the opportunity to contribute not only through code but also by leading meetings, guiding my direct reports, mentoring interns, and organizing team events as part of the social committee at Scotiabank. I care about building a culture of learning and have helped newer developers grow their skills in both software engineering.To amplify my impact and evolve as a leader in tech, I’ve joined the MBA program at Rotman, where I’m focusing on leadership and strategy. I aim to combine deep technical expertise with strong business insight to shape the next generation of software products and the teams that build them.
