A few career highlights-Asked by NASA to train and coach the team leads, supervisors, managers and executives at Kennedy Space Center over an eight year period during the 80s and 90s. This resulted in the contractor teams, receiving for the first time in KSC’s history, an award fee score of a perfect “100”. The Center Director, Jay Honeycutt, claimed this effort had saved NASA hundreds of millions of dollars. He said, “At KSC, John taught us how to manage the complex, high-risk space shuttle launch process, and to do so at almost half the cost!” -Coached the 26 members of the senior leadership development program at Telstra, the multi-billion dollar major telecommunications company in Australia. Designed and instructed four two week sessions that taught the essentials of leading business and preparing for future career demands and responsibilities, which also resulted in the CEO requesting personalized coaching, development, and assessment for his immediate staff-Provided orals coaching for a large government contractor that involved a complex set of requirements and relationship issues, so challenging that the team leads were changed out four different times over 16 months. Through exceptional orals coaching, in spite of these setbacks, the team won a U.S. Navy contract worth $600 million causing the vice president to say “we had the finest orals coach in the country.” -Designed and taught a major training program for all 1400 senior leaders of a large Silicon Valley firm on creating an environment where their employees would want to stay with that firm, while competing organizations such as Apple, Google, and Yahoo were trying to lure them away. Putting in practice the attributes of a high “Quality Manager” this firm was able to retain over 90 percent of their employees because of the new culture established by this intensive training program.
