ABOUT JOHN ODONNELL

As a product focused Data Scientist at Mindbody + ClassPass I am responsible for the experiments and data models that drive initiatives across our business. Working closely with PMs, I provide the data driven insights required to inform big decisions. These tasks include experimentation design and interpretation, quasi-experimentation, writing complex SQL queries, statistical analysis in Python, as well as building interpretable/actionable ML models around user behavior.Prior to ClassPass I worked in the Oil & Gas industry where I applied statistical methods and ML to derive meaningful insights from large, disparate, multi-disciplinary datasets. My focus was to better understand the drivers of hydrocarbon production, estimate well to well interference, and quantify the influence of varying geological environments on well performance. These insights influenced our development strategy and improved the productivity of our capital. My work included supervised learning (random forest, linear regression) and unsupervised learning (clustering), as well as intuitive data visualization!I enjoy exploring complex problems and leveraging statistical methods to communicate actionable insights to non-technical audiences. I have 5+ years experience with Python and SQL spanning from my experience in graduate school to present.
