   I am an ORISE-funded research fellow, and serve as a contractor to the Navy in association with Ohio State University\'s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. This position utilizes both my aerospace engineering and medical backgrounds. I work with state-of-the-art acceleration research devices at the Naval Medical Research Laboratories (NAMRL), including the Disorientation Research Device (KRAKEN)- a sustained 3G planetary motion with 5m horizontal travel simultaneous motion centrifuge, a Moog six-degree of freedom motion platform, VR dynamic posturography (Virtual), AMTI and Bertec force plates, and virtual reality platforms (VIVE, Oculus). My research involves MATLAB & Simulink skills for experiment analysis. I work with a collaborative group of cognitive neuroscientists and engineers on myriad projects. One includes refining a cybernetic neural system model of quiet stance balance. I perform human subject research experiments involving military relevant applications, in collaboration with and mentored by Daniel Merfeld, PhD (Ohio State) and Kyle Pettijohn, PhD (NAMRID) on a part-time level. I will be drafting proposals for future vestibular research funding with an emphasis on applied and clinical applications to multidisciplinary, multi-university programs for vestibular/balance research. This position holds great promise to help me move my career forward to more fully engage in translational vestibular research opportunities in vestibular neuroscience so critically needed in Naval Aviation and the Clinical practice of Vestibular Medicine.
