About Johnny Harley
Hey there, welcome to my page! Ever find yourself pouring over an Atlas during long road trips as a kid? Well, that was me. Those were the days before GPS could guide you to the nearest restroom. That Rand McNally Atlas was my entertainment center, and believe it or not, the birthplace of my lifelong affair with maps.I was a Social Science Education major for the first 3 years of college but later switch to Geography. I knew all along that a career in GIS was up my alley. After college, I worked for an electrical contracting company (Black & McDonald) for 4 years as a GIS Tech. I was exposed to several different skills at BMAD. including IT Technician, proposal writing, project management, and GIS. I then took my current job at TREKK Design Group as a GIS Analyst. This new opportunity fit me perfectly as TREKK has embraced GIS not only as a supporting tool to civil projects. but a way to expand core business functions. The people and work make TREKK what it is and that is what makes my work fulfilling.When I\'m off the clock, I wear a different hat - a community advocate, reviving GeoDev KC, our local GIS enthusiast group. We love geeking out over the latest GIS tools and showing off our creative innovations.In my free time, I am an avid runner/triathlete. I enjoy running marathons and 5ks together (yes we are THAT couple that runs 5ks on holidays). I am also ranked #27 in the world in the beer mile (4 beers, 4 laps). I also enjoy doing lawnscaping and binge watching Netflix in my free time. Looking forward to meeting you!
