ABOUT JOHN MCMANUS

Senior DevOps Engineer and DevOps Delivery LeadCurrently leading a geographically diverse team of DevOps Engineers comprising full time staff and vendor supplied resources. We deliver various DevOps related services from being embedded in development teams, to providing short term pipeline enhancements and infrastructure builds for smaller development projects.I have been advocating for the \"shift left\" approach to provide feedback to developers as early as possible in the Software Development Life Cycle. This approach involves using security tools like Veracode, Meterian, SonarQube and standardisation across environments using Infrastructure as Code and Quality Testing.I have successfully built a global community of DevOps engineers. The chat room for this community has over thousands of collaborators.I co-host a firm wide Developer webcast with two other hosts. Our goal is to provide a platform for internal and external speakers to connect with the community and share updates on the services they can provide, or any topics that might be of interest to the Developer Community.In summary, my role as the leader of this diverse and dynamic team involves overseeing various aspects of DevOps, from collaborating with development teams to enhancing pipeline efficiency, building infrastructure and creating standards. A significant aspect of this is establishing a team culture and structure that has resulted in a high level of trust. This entails leading by example, honouring commitments, finding the appropriate balance between individual freedom and providing a safety net, ensuring a mix of experienced and junior resources within the team, and outlining career development opportunities for team members to strive for. One notable characteristic of the team\'s progress is their eagerness to assist and freely share knowledge.
