ABOUT JOHN MCCONNELL
I am a seasoned senior manger with extensive experience of Product Management, B2B Marketing and Business Unit (P&L), delivering high-tech products and solutions globally. This experience spans leading blue-chip product orientated organizations (Motorola, Cisco), consulting (Accenture) as well as small businesses and agile VC funded startups. The consistent thread running throughout has been my desire to better understand customer problems and to develop / communicate solutions that help to solve these problems. And the net result - one creates successful businesses with sustainable competitive advantage. When I started out - as a physicist with an MBA – I thought I was coming to the party with a perfect technical–business combination, and I assumed that this would pretty straightforward. The subsequent 20+ years’ hands-on experience has taught me that this is inevitably somewhat more complicated and more challenging. And, this challenge is growing. Thanks to the threats / opportunities created by Digital Business Transformation (IoT, Cloud, software, SaaS, security, mobility, Cx, omni-channel etc) business-as-usual is no longer a viable option. No company is immune. To paraphrase Charles Dickens, “It is the best of times, it is the worst of times.” My objective is to help to ensure that the companies that I work with are in for the best of times! Key skills - B2B marketing - technical product management - P&L / business
