The Consumer Protection Division enforces Florida\'s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA) and price gouging statute. We conduct complex investigations into businesses that harm numerous consumers in multiple jurisdictions. Investigations focus on business practices & trends, false or misleading advertising, fraud, asset identification & forfeiture, and financial records examination & analysis. I have investigated frauds such as Timeshare Resale, Mortgage Rescue, Negative Option, PC Tech Support, Debt Relief, Telemarketing Boiler Rooms, Reloading scams, travel & tourism fraud, direct mail, mail fraud, wire fraud, civil theft, organized scheme to defraud, non delivery of goods or services, elder scams, affinity fraud, and fraud targeting minority groups or military veterans.As Chief of Investigations in South Florida, I manage and direct the development of investigations throughout my region. I establish investigative priorities, assist in all high profile or complex investigations, and lead the investigative team to ensure defined goals are met timely and efficiently. Our team consists of 16 direct reports, consisting of an Investigator Supervisor, Financial Investigators, and Investigation Specialists. To fulfill our mission we work closely with Assistant Attorneys General, which we consult and strategize with regularly. We have offices in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach and cover all Counties South of Lake Okeechobee. I develop and implement policies, work to increase team efficiency and establish strong work flow processes. Investigations Manager, Leader, Experienced Criminal and Civil Investigator, and Certified Fraud Examiner.I began my career as a Narcotics Agent at the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff\'s Office. Through comprehensive training, experience and excellent performance, I was promoted to positions with greater responsibilities. I eventually supervised ten Deputies and two Corporals, protecting one third of the most populous area of the Parish as a Shift Sergeant in Uniform Patrol. I relocated to Florida in 2007 and became a Financial Investigator in the Consumer Protection Division for the Florida Office of the Attorney General. I am currently the Chief of Investigations for the South Florida, and also the statewide Chief of Investigations for Price Gouging Enforcement. Our South Florida Investigative team covers everything South of Lake Okeechobee and consists of 10 Financial Investigators and 5 support staff. I coordinate, supervise, and direct complex investigations across three offices located in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. In addition to my duties South Florida duties, I also develop and implement processes and strategy, as well as lead the investigative team statewide enforcemening Florida\'s Price Gouging Statute during declared states of emergency. Our dedicated Price Gouging Investigative Team consists of 2 Investigators and 1 Investigative Specialist and is supported by the entire investigative team statewide during states of emergency.
