About John Glassmire
John Glassmire brings two decades of experience at the frontiers of the energy transition to help customers leverage digital innovation to enable an electrified future. John’s experience spans research, portfolio solution & strategy management, innovation acceleration, and application of grid technologies to solve today’s most pressing energy challenges. He is passionate about advancing electricity as the bedrock of modern business and a sustainable future. John has worked globally, on systems ranging from small isolated systems, to Pacific and Caribbean islands, to US, European, and Australian interconnected grid systems. John believes that lifelong learning and active engagement are critical to solving the most pressing energy challenges; he has facilitated hundreds of workshops and classes on the integration of diverse energy technologies to access clean, low-cost, reliable power.John\'s undergraduate background is in mechanical engineering. After earning his BS from Rice University and his Masters from Northwestern University, he worked for 2 years at Sargent & Lundy, a major energy design and consulting firm in the US. Subsequently, John worked as a consultant in energy and water infrastructure at the Institute for Sustainable Futures in Sydney, Australia. He also served as the Director of Energy Engineering for a spin-off of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, before serving as a Senior Advisor for Grid Edge Solutions with Hitachi Energy and developing a course on Distributed Renewable Power Systems as affiliate faculty with the University of Washington. He has also worked to advance electric mobility in a portfolio management and business development role before assuming his current leadership role at Hitachi Energy.John is also a passionate advocate for the engineering profession, and has extensive experience as a volunteer and leader with Engineers Without Borders in the USA and Australia.
