ABOUT JOHN DOUGHERTY

Having worked in TV and video production my whole adult life, I\'ve seen a lot of changes in the industry. Through the years, I\'ve had the good fortune to have worked in almost all facets of film/video production. But for the last 20 years, producing and editing have allowed me to do what I do best. But there\'s more.I\'ve always had a passion for photography-but years ago took a break as photography went from film to digital. Through my time at ADOT, I\'ve been able to re-engage my passion and hone my digital photography skills. I am now the primary contributor to ADOT\'s Flickr site and have won a national award.Two years ago, I earned my FAA Part 107 sUAS drone pilot license. I am now the Lead Drone Pilot for ADOT Communications. Many of ADOT\'s projects are on a really large scale. The ability to get above-and away from the work (literally) gives a whole new perspective to our work.In April of 2019, I was promoted to \'Supervisor, ADOT Video Services\'. I now lead a team of talented video professionals.I have years of experience in many other video production disciplines: production management, budgets, directing, writing and crewing. I also have a knack for the technical side of production. I have a decades-long relationship with signal flow, building editing systems, a/v wiring, video file conversions & compression.I have worked on dozens of corporate events in various capacities. To date, I’ve acted as technical director for 6 such events for the Arizona Department of Transportation. And, as a sidebar, I am also well-versed in closed captioning and digital signage.Over the course of my career, I’ve become familiar with a number of other disciplines. Having spent 10+ years with an advertising agency, I couldn’t help but acquire a working knowledge of marketing, advertising, and branding. And over the years many of my clients have given me a rudimentary knowledge of their industry.defense systems, transportation, gaming & casinos, hi-tech, education, the auto industry, medicine, multilevel marketing, alternative energy & water conservation, construction, aerospace and aviation.
