About John de Oliveira
From my first foray into AI at Cycorp in 1998, working on symbolic AI with aspirations toward AGI, to my current pursuit of hands-on technical expertise in generative AI, my career has been a journey through the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. My early experiences at Cycorp, where we explored the frontiers of AGI, laid the foundation for my enduring interest in the transformative potential of AI technologies.Throughout my career, I have consistently gravitated towards roles that intersect with AI, big data, and analytics. This focus has not only kept me at the forefront of technological advancement but has also allowed me to contribute significantly to the field. I am honored to be on the advisory board of two university Data Analytics degrees, with one (A&M) being recognized as the number one program in the nation. This role enables me to shape the future of data analytics education, a cornerstone of generative AI.My journey through various leadership positions has been marked by significant achievements, including the development of five patented innovations. These experiences have sharpened my strategic and managerial acumen, equipping me to lead and innovate in complex and dynamic environments.2024 marked a pivotal year for me as I transitioned back to a hands-on technical role. This shift aligns with a long-held aspiration to delve deeper into the technical aspects of AI. In this next chapter, I am growing my skills in generative AI and contributing to the revolution preparing the world for the profound changes that artificial general intelligence will bring.

I design and implement AI systems for the Hapax Work Intelligence Platform, which autonomously maps how organizations operate and deploys AI agents to handle the work those operations generate. My role spans ontology design, agent architecture, and the harnesses that make generative AI reliable in production — including the World Model that captures an organization\'s stimuli, workflows, and cause-and-effect chains. I focus on building agentic systems that are explainable, auditable, and collaborative, augmenting human teams rather than replacing their judgment.
