   As leader of the Research and Measurement group at Amplify, I manage teams of learning scientists, data scientists, statisticians, and computational linguists, who provide research and development services to Amplify\'s K-12 product development efforts. My teams are responsible for:* Structuring the information life-cycle inherent in K-12 learning: the processes by which student work is transformed into actionable information that conditions both the instruction and the curriculum itself;* the design and development of automated scoring tools, e.g. NLP-based short answer scoring systems and statistical models for scoring student interactions with simulations and modeling instruments.* the design and execution of focused student testing sessions as part of Amplify\'s test-driven, iterative curriculum development.* providing research support for extended field trials;* the design and execution of effectiveness and implementation studies;* the design and development of novel digital supplemental programs for English Language Arts, such as The Last Readers, an interactive graphic novel that teaches skills in close reading and close analysis.
