ABOUT JOHN DEBENEDICTIS

A seasoned and highly motivated industry leading facilities, construction and real estate expert managing multi-location properties within the institutional, retail and commercial real estate sectors throughout Canada, US and with international exposure. Honed most of this experience through the growth of TD Bank Group where many positions were held that contributed to several innovative, award winning and ground-breaking real estate and sustainability initiatives. Some of the key positions held included; Strategic Real Estate Planning, Construction Management, Commercial Leasing. Project Development, Facilities Management and Architecture & Design. Also played a significant role in helping to pioneer the commercial/retail outsourcing and third-party vendor management strategies within the real estate industry including how this was positioned within the TD Bank Group organization. Current role as Canadian Director, Facilities and Real Estate Services is to manage and operate the domestic retail bank and office portfolio that covers over square feet of floor area, 1,400 locations, housing employees and managing $200MM of annual budget control. Some of the key leadership and support function involves; expense management, capital planning, finance, lease administration, building operations, construction, retail brand identity, vendor management, health & safety, accessibility, mergers & relocation, business continuity, environmental and regulatory compliance. Over and above the Director role a key area of accountability is to develop and managed TD’s ESG, sustainability and scope 1 and 2 carbon reduction strategies for the organization worldwide.Outside of a very busy working career that includes continual professional accreditation, news article publication, conducting industry training, keynote speaking engagements, Chamber of Commerce involvement and leading several United Way fundraising initiatives. I provide pro-bono real estate advice and consulting expertise to non-profit organizations and community groups who have their own building assets but don\'t have the inhouse skill set to manage. On a personal level, you will find me volunteering for charitable organizations, spending time with my large extended family, going for a run, working out at the gym several times a week or playing several sports.
