About John Compton

Across countless searches, one truth has never changed: when hiring is done right, teams align, performance compounds, and both people and businesses thrive. With more than 20 years in executive search, I’ve helped hundreds of companies hire transformative talent, from Principal Engineers and Heads of Quality to CTOs, GMs, COOs, and Go-To-Market leaders. Today my work focuses on two areas. Through Agile Search, I help companies turn hiring into a competitive advantage. We combine modern recruiting tools with thoughtful, human-centered evaluation to identify not just who can do the job, but who will truly perform, lead, and grow within the organization. Through AimWise Discovery, I help individuals rediscover their strengths, values, and motivators so they can build careers with greater impact and alignment. Using frameworks developed through executive talent acquisition, the military, and NCAA athletics, I work with professionals through coaching and retreats designed to help them step away from the day-to-day and think more intentionally about their direction. Before founding Agile Search, I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, served as a U.S. Army Officer and Army Ranger qualified Military Police Officer, and was a four-year Varsity Ice Hockey athlete at West Point. After transitioning from the military to business, I earned an MBA from Babson College focused on entrepreneurship and launched Agile Search in 2005. AimWise Discovery launched in 2025. I believe the right people change companies, and the right work changes people. My goal is to help both happen.
