ABOUT JOHN CANGELOSI

I am founded Sagis, PLLC, an entirely physician-owned multispecialty diagnostic pathology laboratory headquartered in Houston, Texas. I was also a past President of the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists, a member of the Harris County Medical Society’s Health Information Technology (HIT) committee, a member of the board for A Children’s House for The Soul (a Houston based non-profit organization offering support for children with disfiguring skin conditions), an Ambassador to Texas Children’s Hospital, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society, and Assistant Clinical Professor at both University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston and University of North Texas/TCOM in Fort Worth. I am also on the Board of Directors for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where we have committed over $500 million dollars to youth scholarships across Texas.I was recently recognized as the 2020 McGovern Medical School\'s Distinguished Alumni of the Year. I have performed research in such topics as cutaneous adnexal tumors, histiocytic tumors, cutaneous t-cell lymphomas, and non-melanoma skin cancers, and has published in various pathology journals including The American Journal of Dermatopathology, Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, and Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. I have also written a book chapter about cutaneous tumors in Dermatology, A Pictorial Review (McGraw-Hill Medical Publishing).I grew up in Missouri City, Texas where I attended Strake Jesuit High School and Texas A&M University where I majored in Bio-Medical Science. I went on to attend The University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston, residency training at UTMB in Galveston, and fellowship training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center. I possesses medical licenses in multiple states including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida, Utah, Arizona, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
