ABOUT JOHN BUTCHER
Senior teaching fellow with 15 years of teaching in higher education in the UK. My roles these days are quite teaching and admin focussed as I teach across a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate Neuroscience modules and co-programme direct the undergraduate Neuroscience degree. I still try to do research when I can, which is mostly focussed on Computational Neuroscience, applying machine and deep learning to large and often complex datasets. I still love being in the lab, and do miss my in-vivo and in-vitro days in the lab.Specialties: In-vivo and in-vitro electrophysiology, Optogenetics, Chemogenetics, Immunohistochemistry, Behavioural testing, Neural networks, Big data analysis, Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Classification, Java, Python, Matlab, Data Visualisation and Manipulation, Biologically inspired robot navigation
