About John Bentley
Most founders don’t struggle because they lack ideas. They struggle because growth exposes gaps in structure, systems, and technical leadership. What works to get a product off the ground often isn’t enough once momentum arrives.A common point I step into is when a product technically exists, a team is in place, but delivery has become unreliable — dates slip, plans aren’t trusted, and progress feels harder than it should. This is often a signal that the company has outgrown its early technical structure, not that the team is underperforming. With over 30 years of experience as a CTO and product leader, I guide founders along the Product Journey — from early validation through post-MVP growth and scaling. My work sits at the intersection of product clarity, technical architecture, and leadership, helping teams adapt as their products, systems, and organizations evolve. My background spans network management, telecommunications, finance, and SaaS. Across industries, one principle has remained constant: great products succeed when product thinking and technical strategy evolve together — especially as complexity increases.Today, I serve as a Fractional CTO and Product Journey Guide, helping founders navigate the inflection points that emerge as momentum builds — clarifying priorities, strengthening teams, evolving architecture, and preparing systems for the next stage of growth. And yes — I still embrace my nickname, “The Code Wookie,” for my ability to solve complex problems while navigating chaos and uncertainty.
