ABOUT JOHN BARRETT

An experienced network solutions practitioner with awareness and understanding of a broad range of network and related technologies. This experience has been gained in a variety of architecture, design and delivery engagements. Has played integral and leadership roles in a number of enterprise scale IT refresh programs, encompassing; requirements gathering, solution consulting, architecture development, creation of high level and low level designs, development of implementation plans, test schedules, migration strategies and performance testing criteria. Has defined how network designs align to the business requirements, how they map to other technologies and how the tactical implementation and migration with existing infrastructure will be accomplished. This experience ensures a best practice engineering approach to designing and building scalable, secure, resilient and manageable network modules that integrate with associated technologies and provides the base for the desired application performance. The building blocks being supported by high quality, template based documentation sets. Has managed technical teams, supported sales via pre-sales support activities and provided professional services consultancy on behalf of vendors including Cisco Advanced Services in their Data Centre and Virtualization practice. A good communicator, with excellent technical documentation skills and the ability to present ideas at many levels. Maintains a desire to gain insight from industry and thought leaders and provide mentorship to team members.
