ABOUT JOHN YOUNG

There aren’t many people who grow up dreaming of a career in Insurance – don’t worry I’m not one of them – I wanted to be a rock star. But if Insurance is all you know, then at least try to find an exciting and engaging area of the industry. I found my corner of Insurance in underwriting Media and Entertainment risks albeit after trying out roles in claims and catastrophe modelling. When your list of clients include multinational streaming services, cutting edge TV & Film producers and the biggest rock and pop acts on the planet, it doesn’t take long for an interesting enquiry to find its way on to your (virtual) desk. I’ve been working in Insurance for 25 years with the last 16 years specifically in Media and Entertainment. My aim has always been to work with our clients to assist them in delivering the best content and events possible. Risk management and Insurance may often feel like an obstacle in the creative process, but I prefer to think that we add to the likelihood of a successful production whilst trying our best to keep people and property safe. Outside of Insurance, I’m a would-be creative – playing guitar/vocals in a rock band and developing screenplay ideas.
