ABOUT JOHN WILSON
As an agricultural education instructor, FFA advisor, Career and Technical Education director, instructional coach, and high school principal in Limestone County, I have grown to value and appreciate the importance of occupational, trade, and industry education. I recently finished my career at Auburn University (War Eagle!) where I earned a Bachelors, Masters, and Specialist degree in Agricultural Education, and finally a Ph.D. in Career and Technical Education. I am very proud to be a part of this meaningful component of secondary and post-secondary education in Alabama. I hold a class A endorsement in educational leadership enabling me to serve as an additional Director of Career and Technical Education for Limestone County Schools in the workforce Region 1 area of North Alabama. My research interests include improving quality teacher education programs for industry leaders and increasing opportunities for all students to have access to participate in agricultural and technical education. Our students deserve the opportunity for exposure to a variety of agricultural and technical training opportunities enabling them to aspire above and beyond their personal and financial goals. The ultimate direct impact this would have on our students would break the chain of existing poverty in our home and community. I believe through technical education we can improve the lives of all throughout our region, state, and nation. Creating economically independent citizens will have a lasting economic impact both locally and globally. My ultimate career goal is to effectively make a difference in the lives of my students through Career and Technical Education with an emphasis on career readiness and success while making a meaningful contribution to the efforts of workforce development.
