About John Wesley Heaton

I am passionate about transit and moving our society and transportation infrastructure toward a renewable and sustainable future. I see possibilities for a future that is oil-free, and I choose to be a part of said solution. I see the freedom of movement as an essential pillar of our society, allowing for all persons opportunity to employment centers and access to housing opportunity. Investing in our mass transit systems allows for equity across all income and racial spectrums and benefits the quality of life for all in a city. By harnessing skills and knowledge in my career, my 10-year goal is to return to my home city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and assist in the transition away from single-occupancy vehicles (SOVs). The modal shift occurs when multimodal, bus rapid transit (BRT) and high-speed rail connect the region to centralized nodes of connectivity. By embarking on this career trajectory, I want to continue to build on the immense knowledge I have gleaned from my experience at Regional Transportation District (RTD) Denver.
