About John Tran

I am currently a sophomore at Christopher Newport University majoring in Finance with a minor in Leadership Studies. Although I recently transitioned into finance, my interest in the field has been long-standing. I previously co-owned an e-commerce business at age 16, where I gained hands-on experience with financial decision-making, operations, and growth strategy.After switching into finance, I sought opportunities to apply my skills in a real-world setting and was selected to join Christopher Newport University’s Captains’ Educational Enrichment (CEE) Fund, a student-managed investment fund. Through this experience, I have gained exposure to managing capital, conducting equity research, and participating in portfolio-level discussions. Just as importantly, working alongside highly motivated and like-minded peers has pushed me to continuously improve and reinforced my belief in surrounding myself with driven individuals.Outside of academics, I enjoy playing a quick nine holes of golf, staying active in the gym, and focusing on continuous personal and professional growth.
