About John Thornton

I have worked as an RN for 24 years and in nursing education for 16 years. During this time I have developed a passion for providing safe, compassionate care for those in need. My primary goal is to make a positive impact on the quality of life for those who are suffering from various health conditions as well as preventative measures that may be beneficial to a person\'s overall health status. My goal as an educator has always been to teach, mentor and coach future nurses to provide safe, high quality care.

1. Assistant Professor

   In my role of Assistant Professor at Unitek College, I have enjoyed working with students at various clinical sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have also had the opportunity to assist with skills labs, simulations, and lecturing in adult health, nursing fundamentals, health assessment, and leadership courses. A recent role for me is serving as one of the faculty coaches to promote student success on ATI content mastery exams and NCLEX preparation. This was also the site for my practicum during my MSN program at West Coast University. As part of the practicum I participated in course design, simulations, clinical site instruction, and creating/managing a course using the learning management system \"Canvas\".
