ABOUT JOHN THEOBALD

Over a 37 year career encompassing military, business and government experience, I have developed many different skills. They all allow me to do what I love the most, to be a problem solver. Whether it\'s applying high school geometry to determine the course and speed of a ship at sea or helping to oversee budgets (from over $800 million at Montgomery County to the shoestring budgets and working to keep the doors open at the Suicide Prevention Center), I work towards actionable solutions.I have been honored to serve the people of Montgomery County as Commission Assistant to Commissioner Debbie Lieberman for the last 16 years. I was able to help individuals every single day that I worked there. I was also able to help establish and lead several major projects for Montgomery County. With lots of help, I led the effort to establish a local Reentry program. Beginning in 2005, I worked with community leaders to build a formal Reentry program. I led the team that brought in over $2 million in state and federal grants to the community for Reentry. It culminated in the establishment of the Montgomery County Office of Reentry in 2010. Over the last 6 years, the local office of Reentry program has a 4.9% recidivism rate as opposed to a national rate that hovers around 50%.Over the last several years I had the opportunity to work with the wonderfully creative team at Wilderness Agency, a full-service marketing agency in Dayton, Ohio. In July of 2021, I was offered an opportunity to join Wilderness Agency as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. It was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made but it was the right decision. I love my new team! Marketing is a hyper fast-paced environment that is entirely different from local government. Wilderness Agency is a completely different approach to Marketing. I am very pleased and excited to have joined the Wilderness Agency team.
