About John Tamasitis

I primarily focus my practice on commercial, product liability and constitutional litigation defending corporate and small business clients in complex civil litigation matters in both state and federal court. I also advise and represent various members of the firearms industry in administrative and regulatory matters. I\'ve handled cases from pre-litigation negotiations through trial, and onto appeal. I have also gained extensive experience in mediation negotiations and defending clients in arbitration. I was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2005. I spent six years on active duty with the Air Force in the Office of Special Investigations as a special agent focused on counterintelligence and counterespionage investigations, with a focus on research and technology protection. During my two deployments to Afghanistan in 2008 and 2009, I led counterthreat operations teams in recruiting and developing human assets to assist U.S. and Coalition partners in identifying, tracking and targeting potential threats to allied forces and the local populace. Back in the United States, I operated as a counterintelligence agent and was the appointed branch chief for Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field in Northwest Florida until heading off to law school in late-2011. In that role, I led and directed a team responsible for counterintelligence/anti-terrorism investigations in the area and provided research and technology counterintelligence protections services with the FBI and other government agencies to the Air Force’s Special Operations Headquarters and the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate, which conducts research and development for the Air Force’s air-launched munitions and explosives programAfter meeting my wife (Anna) while stationed in Florida, we decided to enter into the legal world (it is definitely a team effort) and I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014, where I graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the South Carolina Law Review.In addition to practicing law, I enjoy assisting veterans throughout the state and was an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law for the Veterans Legal Clinic. Outside of the courtroom, you can find me chasing around my three precocious children (Margaret, Katherine, and Gwilym) or on the golf course.
