We design SAG/AG and ball mills that perform as the specified in the engineering documents. That is, design tonnes per hour when treating design hardness ore, with no additional capital required to do this. By designing for the 80th percentile of hardness variability, and by carefully managing the start-up ore to be mined, we can start up a new plant at design tonnage with no significant production delay. Comminution circuits are designed using ore hardness measurements from your ore body alone. This, and a solid understanding of how SAG mills perform, allows your SAG and ball mills to be designed to capture the rich benefits of SAG technology. By allowing for future expansion at the design stage, start-up CAPEX can be reduced and expansion capital greatly reduced. We do this by using SAGDesign technology which accurately measures SAG ore hardness (within +/-5%), and calculates the required mill size and power within <2%. The SAGDesign test is the most accurate SAG hardness test available world-wide with test facilities available at 14 laboratories on 5 continents. SAGDesign technology is stand alone and other methods will confirm our sizing but are not required for a robust and successful project start-up.We also do professional consulting work at all levels of required expertise to assist clients in optimizing existing processes and resolving processing problems of any kind.We have given SAGDesign lectures at many universities around the world and we teach our clients how to do this important work. Every metallurgist should know how to design a SAG mill and to understand how another professional engineer has designed it. Using a computer program is not acceptable unless the engineer knows all the input data that was used to make that program.
