ABOUT JOHN SOFIA

Collaborative and strategic leader with over 43 years of Navy (Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) headquarters and Naval Sea Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD)) and Corporate experience (Life Cycle Engineering (LCE)). Demonstrated capabilities in program and change management, corporate strategy development, program office establishment, business development, client management and government contracting. A results-driven leader with extensive experience in managing diverse, complex Science and Technology, Research and Development, Acquisition, Product development and Logistics based programs, organizations and facilities. An effective communicator who has presented and published multiple papers and briefs for Navy Conferences and Intelligent Ship Conferences. In the various positions he held for the Navy John has extensive experience working with industry and academia. His areas of expertise include program management, electric power systems, electric drive, systems engineering, strategic planning, tactical implementation, contracting, technology development and transition. John is recognized as an expert in Commonality by his development and implementation of the Commonality Division in NAVSEA. John was responsible for the establishment of Commonality policies processes and guidance documents across NAVSEA. John\'s diverse background in S&T, R&D and system transition provides a breadth and depth of knowledge for ships and ship systems, weapon and sensor interface and technology development.
