About John Slaughter
John Slaughter served as CEO of Nevada’s second largest County. John retired as Washoe County Manager in June 2019. John began his career with Washoe County in 1986, working as a land use planner, the County’s strategic planning manager, and as the Director of Management Services. He represented Washoe County at the Nevada Legislature from 20••••13 and served as Acting Assistant County Manager prior to his appointment as County Manager. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Emporia State University, and a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Kansas. He also received the Continuing Education Certificate in Public Management from the University of Nevada, Reno.
