Accountable for the delivery of a high performing procurement and supplier management service for Jisc and our members. This also includes:Working with all directorates in Jisc to develop a procurement and supplier management strategy to support the corporate strategy. All sourcing and procurement activity, including setting up frameworks and DPSs used by our members.Commercial supplier and contract management for all contracts and frameworks.Working with finance colleagues on the finance transformation programme with the aim of streamlining purchasing within Jisc and providing better management information.Ensuring that our procurement strategy is in line with our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions. Being and active member of the UK procurement / purchasing community, particularly those within the higher and further education sector.

ABOUT JOHN SHAILE
I’ve spent over 20 years working in public sector procurement and supplier management, mostly in complex, highly regulated environments where getting things right matters.My career has focused on leading procurement activity, managing suppliers, and making sure organisations stay compliant while still delivering real value. I’ve worked extensively with public sector procurement legislation, including PCRs and the Procurement Act 2023, and I’m often asked to provide assurance, steer difficult issues, or help bring clarity where things have become complicated or high-risk.I’m a calm, straightforward leader who values trust, honesty, and clear communication. I work well with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and suppliers, and I’m known for building strong relationships and dealing with issues directly and pragmatically. I enjoy problem-solving, negotiating outcomes that work for everyone, and supporting teams through change.For me, good procurement is about more than compliance.
