Secretary General of GEM (Global Earthquake Model) Foundation, a public-private partnership devoted to developing models, tools and information on earthquake hazard and risk and informing disaster risk reduction activities worldwide. An expert in natural hazards risk assessment and in the application of risk information to support decision-making for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. Extensive experience in government, private sector and academia in the development and application of analysis tools, data and information for the assessment of natural and technological impacts and risk. Experienced in building institutional capability across academic, public and private sectors globally. Published widely on earthquake, tsunami and climate change hazards and risks. Served as Chair of the Governing Board of the GEM (Global Earthquake Model) Foundation from 20••••15, and serves as an advisor to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) for the Global Risk Assessment Framework and to the Insurance Development Forum for the Risk Modelling Steering Group.
